TOOLAMBA GATHERING PLACE
Artist, Tammy-Lee Atkinson has provided the following explanation about the meaning behind the Toolamba art piece:
Toolamba’s installation depicts Toolamba’s strong and rich connection to land (Woka) and water (Walla) and emphasises the critical role the Woka and Walla plays in our lifestyle and community.
The long neck turtle is the totem for Yorta Yorta peoples. The concentric circles on the land represent men and women sitting at a meeting place / campsite. A symbol of community gathering and yarning.
The concentric circles in the water represent connection to river /water /water hole.
